What is Coasteering? Frequently Asked Questions.

You can reach us via E-mail, message or call if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Coasteering is an exciting and challenging adventure activity that involves exploring the rocky coastline, swimming through sea caves, and jumping from cliffs into the sea. You'll be accompanied by our expert guides, who will provide you with all the necessary equipment and safety instruction to ensure a safe as possible and enjoyable experience. Be prepared for a thrilling and unforgettable adventure!

We will meet you at the start of your chosen session. We appreciate punctuality as this ultimately leads to more time coasteering for you!

Our coasteering sessions typically last 2-3 hours, with roughly 2 hours spent in the sea and 30 minutes at the start and finish to get changed. The exact length of your coasteering session may vary depending on factors such as group size and weather conditions, but we recommend planning for at least 3 hours to ensure you have enough time to fully enjoy the experience.

  • High quality, full length, 5mm thick, warm wet suits.
  • Buoyancy aids and helmets appropriate for coasteering.

We will be meeting at Porth Dafarch Beach (see address on booking page), unless otherwise specified due to weather conditions or being an alternative course. If a change is necessary this will be confirmed in the days leading up to your session.

  • Swimwear / underwear to wear underneath your wet suit.
  • Sturdy footwear with covered toes and a solid sole that you don't mind getting wet. E.g. trainers, walking boots, approach shoes. NOT sandals, water shoes, astro turfs or plimsolls.
  • Long swimming shorts to go over the top of your wetsuit.
  • Any medication you may require. E.g. Inhaler.

It is important to note that coasteering, like any adventure activity, does come with some risks. We will make this adventurous outdoor activity as safe as possible. We are are highly experienced coasteering guides and use good quality equipment. With the right preparation and safety measures in place, risks can be minimised and we can ensure you can still enjoy a thrilling and memorable experience. We ask all our participants to read, understand and sign an acknowledgment of risk form before commencing the activity.

Jumping is an exciting and thrilling part of coasteering, but it's not mandatory. Our experienced guides will provide you with a range of options for each jump so you can choose to jump, climb down or swim around. We encourage everyone to step outside their comfort zone, but we also want you to feel safe and comfortable throughout the experience.

It's important to note that having a basic swimming ability is generally considered a requirement for coasteering. Please let us know if you can't swim or consider yourself a weak swimmer. If you're interested in trying coasteering but can't swim, don't worry - with the right conditions and equipment, it's still possible to enjoy this exciting activity. We may choose a venue with less swimming or possibly make a decision to find more shelter from the given sea conditions on the day. The equipment we provide you with will help keep you safe throughout your adventure. If you have any more questions regarding this please feel free to get in contact.

Coasteering is a weather and condition dependent activity. In case of bad weather we have alternative coasteering venues to ensure that customers can still enjoy a fun and exciting adventure in a safe and controlled environment.

In the unlikely event that all our coasteering venues are suffering from bad weather we will offer an alternative adventure activity such as Gorge Scrambling with our associate business Snowdonia Outdoor Adventure.

Any changes in venue or activity will be communicated with you in the days leading up to your coasteering session.
